Read the whole card, not just the numbers
Start with cost, then attack and health where the card has them. Cost tells you what you must spend; stats help you understand combat. The ability, location and timing explain what the card can actually achieve. Our match guide puts those details on the board.
Turn an ability into three questions
- When does it happen: on reveal, on destruction or after another event?
- What does it affect: this card, an ally, an enemy, a space or a barrier?
- What condition must be met, and can I meet it now?
“Random”, “here” and “other” change the result. Do not replace the printed condition with the effect you hoped to get. A large benefit with no valid target may contribute very little to your plan.
A first keyword glossary
- On Reveal: the effect triggers when the card is revealed. Reveal order can matter.
- Shield: prevents the next instance of damage the card would take; it is not permanent immunity.
- Rebirth: the first time the card is destroyed, it returns with 1 health.
- Defender: can defend your barrier at that location when an enemy would attack it.
- Trample: excess combat damage to a character carries over to the opposing barrier at that location.
These introductory descriptions follow the available game keyword text. They are not a complete rules reference. Always check the live card and current patch when an interaction matters.
Card art and gameplay are different information
An alternate illustration can make the same gameplay card look unfamiliar. Identify the name, ability and stats before drawing conclusions from artwork or grading. A collectible’s appearance is not evidence that it is stronger. Read free versus paid for that distinction.
Use the library with its version in mind
Search the card library by name or keyword. The interface labels the age of its stat snapshot; an English rendered card image can also differ from newer live text. Treat the current client and official patch notes as the reference for a changed interaction.
